Booking A Trip

This trip starts at the back of June Lake Loop in the Eastern Sierra. In the first three and a half hours we climb from 7,500 feet to almost 10,000 feet. The next four and a half days are spent fishing the various lakes and streams in the Ansel Adams Wilderness on the back side of Yosemite. The last day and a half are spent at Algergolden trout,fly,fishing,fly fishing,fly fishing trips,fly fishing,adventure,Baja,Sierra,Shad,Striped Bass,Steelhead,black bass,bass,Alaska,Alagnak Lodge,Loreto,Baja California,Yucatan,Ascension Bay,Pesca Maya,Al,lodi,lodi california,calif,AND,+ Lake,  at an altitude of over 10,300 feet. Alger Lake is noted for its large golden trout.

All of our camp and cooking needs are taken care of by the packers and camp cook. Fishing assistance is provided to any that need it. The horses and mules are well trained and can handle novice riders easily. This trip is one of the best of the year and a real "sleeper" at it's price of $1150.

Five day schedule

  1. FIRST DAY - Check in at the pack station at 7:00 AM.  While we are eating breakfast (provided by the packer), the cowboys will be loading your gear on the mule train.  We will ride to Gem Lake or Rush Creek for lunch and fish till early afternoon.  We will continue our ride to our Clark Lake camp.  You will have the opportunity to fish Clark Lake and Summit Lakes for brookies and rainbows.golden trout,fly,fishing,fly fishing,fly fishing trips,fly fishing,adventure,Baja,Sierra,Shad,Striped Bass,Steelhead,black bass,bass,Alaska,Alagnak Lodge,Loreto,Baja California,Yucatan,Ascension Bay,Pesca Maya,Al,lodi,lodi california,calif,AND,+

  2. SECOND DAY - After breakfast, ride to the head waters of the San Joaquin River. Fish for rainbows and brookies. We will return early enough for you to fish Clark Lake before dinner.

  3. THIRD DAY - After breakfast, ride to Alger Lakes. Once at the lake, fish for large Golden Trout. Dinner and campfire.

  4. FOURTH DAY - Breakfast and then to Alger Lakes or fish the Creek for Golden Trout from 12-16 inches. Dinner and more fishing.

  5. FIFTH DAY - Fish Alger Lake in the morning. Pack up after lunch and head back to civilization. Back at the pack station about 4PM.

  • 4-5 weight rod/floating and sinking lines
  • Lots of flies (list will be passed out at pre-trip meeting)
  • Vest or some other way to carry fly fishing gear
  • Lightweight waders

  • Sleeping bag/air mattress
  • Extra clothing
  • Towel and washcloth
  • Flashlight
  • Coffee Mug (required)
  • Broad brimmed hat with neck strap

  • Liquor (beer is too heavy for the mules)

You are limited to 40 pounds TOTAL GEAR. Instructions for packing gear will be given out at pre-trip meeting.

The cost per angler is $1150 + $18 USFS fee.  The trip is limited to eight (8) "cowboys".
