This small English speaking country nestled between Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras, offers some of the finest fly fishing for bonefish, permit and tarpon.
The best permit fishing is found in Southern Belize off the coast of beautiful Placencia. This area is known as the permit capital of Belize. Actually, the area is a heaven for tarpon, snook, barracuda, snappers, tuna and jacks as well. The average permit weighs 10 pounds and trophy sized permit in the 30-pound range very common but extremely hard to land. The Monkey River located only twenty-five minutes by boat from Placencia is superb for tarpon fishing in the spring.
Your trip will begin at Belize City; from there you will fly intra-country air to Placencia. We will be staying in beach cottages just a few steps away from the Caribbean. Each morning your guide will pick you up right in front of your cottage for a full day of flats or lagoon fishing. We will spend six days exploring the many lagoons, caves and flats for tarpon, bonefish and permit, not to mention the excellent fishing for jacks, snapper and barracuda. If weather permits, a trip offshore will yield black fin tuna and big jacks!
