Best Fishing Time - May and June is the most popular time for fly fishing on the Deschutes River as there are a number of hatches taking place including the salmon fly and golden stone fly hatches. As summer progresses there are a number of the smaller mayflies and caddis hatches that occur primarily in the evenings. The trout fishing in the fall is not as consistent as the spring fishing, but you combine your trout fishing along with the opportunity to fly fish for steelhead.

Where will I be fishing? The best section of the Deschutes for trout fishing is from the boat ramp at Warm Springs (Highway 26) down river to the town of Maupin. This is a forty-five mile section of river. The only other boat ramp in this section is at Trout Creek which is ten miles down river from Warm Springs.redside.jpg (9718 bytes)

What is the cost for trip? The cost is $275 a day per person. This price includes all your food for the trip, camping equipment as camp right on the river, your Deschutes River Permit, guide service and even a few flies to get your started on your trip. Our trips run anywhere from two to five days - sorry no one day trips.

Any special regulations I need to be aware of? Yes! The first one being that you can not fish from a floating device, this means getting in and out of the drift boats or rafts as you fish your way down river. Stream cleats are essential for wading the Deschutes as the rocks are slippery and we always put your safety first. There are several other boating and camping regulations on the lower Deschutes River and we will inform you of these if they apply. We will also supplies you with a list of items to bring, as once we leave the boat ramp there are not stores until we take out at Maupin.

How do I get the Deschutes? There are several ways. One way is to met us at the boat ramp at Warm Springs with your vehicle. This method is fine for the person who wants to spend some additional time fishing or golfing around Bend and Sunriver. However, if your goal is to quickly fish the Deschutes and get back, the airport at Portland is only two hours from the Deschutes. We would be happy to pick you up at the airport or one of the nearby hotels and have you travel over to the Deschutes with us.

Our goal: Our goal is to provide you with a safe and pleasant trip on the Deschutes. The food will be abundance and tasty. We make every effort to get you into the best fishing water with the right flies, but you have to remember the Deschutes is a large powerful river, these fish are educated and the fishing here is challenging.
